Sounds like you are getting it under control, that's a good move putting the macro algae in but don't expect it to stem the hair algae strait away as these things take time to balance out. Let us all know how you get on.

I figured out how to take care of this issue/problem. It was a pain to pull it off. Some type of brown hair algae that was strongly attached and a pain to pull off. I removed it once but it grew back again.

Problem solved lol! Most logical way.... remove the fan :p
