My Opae ula eating directly from the rocks, skipping picking it up.

So i was watching my communal tank and noticed some of the shrimp eating directly from mouth to the algae, quite a few of them do this which is really funny to watch!



I was worried at first maybe it had an issue with its grabbing claws but it kept switching between normal hand to mouth and eating directly from the rock :lol:

I'm not sure if there isn't much food on the rocks or they are just trying to get something tasty from the surface which didn't come away very easily.

Actually now I noticed mine do the same thing on the surface of the glass.

I saw one doing it and I recorded it close up for you. You can tell when he does it and when he doesn't depending if front claws are moving or not.

Oh that's cool! It must be a trait/talent Opae ula have, maybe to eat the really tuff to remove stuff.

At least we know if they lose any arms they can still eat directly by mouth lol.
