Why Opae Ula turn white

I was catching OP to transfer to another tank and they turn clear and/or white as usual . I was thinking about it and I believe it is to camouflage themselves so they don’t get eaten if they were in the wild. Not my video but amazing how an octopus can be invisible! So OP trying to the same?

Interesting thought, I think you are right too. Being as close to transparent I’m water is way better then being deep red that’s for sure when trying to evade predators.

I've noticed whenever the water is not within their preferred limits, they have a tendency to turn white. Once the levels are on point, they turn back to red. I started my opaeula tank around 5 years ago with 20 shrimps. Now I have at least a hundred. Started in a 2 gallon tank upgraded to a 5 gallon and recently transferred all to a 10 gallon. Prior to me transferring to the 10 gallon, I had a problem with some type of parasite that was brought in because of grass that had tiny tiny snails. After eradicating all the parasites (a lot of work, patience, frustration and the victory) finally was able to transfer to the bigger tank. I got the bigger tank for mother's day so a couple of days after that was when they were all transferred. Anyway, in the last 2 days (finally), I have a few larvae currently drifting in the water. I am running a sponge pump with very soft air bubbles... There are a still a few adults that are white (not transparent), tonight I noticed that I have a white one that is carrying a bunch of eggs, all the eggs are blue. Any thoughts? I separated that one for now.
