Hello from Singapore! Please to meet all of you after stalking you guys for quite a while. I saw some of the posters here are also from Singapore so it's very cool if we can eventually trade some stuff!

Very excited to share my set up! I have had a tank that was made by a local shop that specialise in Opae Ula tank and scaping that is already about 3 years old, then chanced upon a seller recently selling these shrimps at only 20% of the LFS price! Sparked my interest to start reading up on this forum on set up and bought supplies from different shop to assemble this tank together, made good use of my time in this covid lockdown and started this tank!

Today is the 3rd day of the setup, 2nd day that the shrimps went in. Glad to say they are getting pinker! They were all shades of pale yesterday when I received them! Hope to see them breeding soon, since the seller said these are at least 1 year old.

Oh but I should say though, they love to all hide in the corner where the huge moss ball is, today some of them ventured out after I gave a toothpick tip of spirulina powder. Feels like they are just slowly venturing out.

Welcome to the Opaeula forum, nice to see your tank and shrimp! Are they hard to find and buy in Singapore? Don’t worry about their colour as they will soon settle in and become pink and red again.

If you need any help just post here and we will help with anything we can.

Thanks Odin! Yeah they are relatively low-key in Singapore, you have to really find the hobbyists who breed on the side and sell to us. Otherwise it's super expensive.

The shrimps are settling into the jar, most of them are a good pinkish red now. Just super sad to see 1 or 2 of them with entirely white - transparent body. It wasn't like anyone shocked them or what, think it simply is what their colouring is. I spotted 2 who seemed to be father and son (father and daughter? mother and daughter? mother and son???) and both were a nice bright red with a distinctive stripe of transparent right across their mid-back. It's nice to see some of them had extremely big red claws too, while others front claws were almost non-existent.

Any updates? Have the rest coloured up at all?

Hey Odin, yeah they have coloured up though some (2-3) stayed rather translucent. They hide lesser now.

The strange thing is I believe almost all of them have molted already. But till now no berried shrimp. Not sure why that is so?

It seems these are now like FW shrimp with seems to always get berried every 30 days and produce babies. I see molts all the time but the amount of molts does not equal berried females. I have quite a few saddled females but many don't become fully berried and release.

I never see moults in my tanks anymore, they must do this hidden in the rocks or others munch it up quick
