I purchased this as it seemed pretty interesting after a discussion with opae ula related about larvae survival rates and containing the opae ula larvae away from in tank dangers, the holes look to be exactly the same width as the larvae so i think they would need to breath in and sink down completely strait and still to find their way through the holes in the bottom plate.

The sides all slot together and are held with plastic plugs which have a plastic screw fit into it to secure it and the lid just slots/drops on the top for easy access when needed. The build quality is not bad and where all the sides/edges meet there isnt any gaps and they all sit flush with each other. To be honest if you are serious about going down this route of larvae housing then i would go with another tank if you have the room and money, but for £8.10 delivered its a bargain and should work pretty well. Until i try it for myself id have to guess that the larvae wouldn't get stuck in holes in the plates.

You may have to poke a few of the holes through as some of mine had a few little bits of lose perspex in them, a quick rub and they clear easy.
